20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (abridged)

I love 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I just read it a few weeks ago. It's about these sailors and they're going to go try to discover what the monster is that lives 20,000 leagues under the sea. They get captured by a submarine, called the Nautilus, and inside there's like kitchens and bedrooms and sinks and living rooms and the people who lives on the ship like the captain, he's lived on that ship all his life. He's never been up in the air before. And that's the monster with the glowing eyes and crashes ships. The captain takes the men and forces them to stay on his submarine. It's not really a submarine, it's more like a ship that can go under the water. And so they're trying to escape and they go out to find the treasure down in the ocean and they found these big chests and the person who was the leader of the first ship, it was called the Abraham Lincoln, he had to lay down on the bottom of the ocean to take a nap and when he woke up there was a giant sea spider! The captain of the Nautilus was brave and he killed the spider. And then they found this cave and inside there was a giant shell and they opened up the shell and there was a giant pearl in it. The captain of the Nautilus said "Every year I come here and the pearl gets bigger and when it is just the right size I will take it." The end of the story is hard to write. They get stuck in a cove of rocks and another ship is surrounding them and the captain of the Nautilus opens up the door and shouts at the ship. And they escape into the island and the Nautilus gets destroyed and they finally make it back to the big city and they tell everyone that the monster is really a ship. The captain of the Abraham Lincoln keeps some of the money from the Nautilus and no one ever heard of him again.

I liked this book because it was good and it was my first book to be about the sea. I learned about cool rocks that are under the ocean.

Black Beauty, by Anna Sewell

This horse's name is Black Beauty. If you look closely you can see a white diamond on his forehead, and one white foot. I love Black Beauty because there was a broken bridge that they should cross, but Black Beauty did not pull the carriage across because the middle had broken. They were stuck there, but they got home at last. So he saved the day!
And he stayed at a place and the owner told a little boy to go up and put some hay and putt down his pipe. But he left his pipe up there in the hay and the stable caught on fire! But Black Beauty neighed to the rest of the horses they got out of the barn. Joe Green saved them.
He went through a bunch of other people, and when he was done with that he came back to live with Joe Green. At the end of the book he said
"I'm staying with Joe Green for ever after so I know I will be happy."

I liked this book so much because he saved the day. I like Black Beauty because he can run fast, and he's gentle and nice.

The BFG, by Roald Dahl

This is my favorite book, the BFG.
I do not like scary giants, but I like the BFG, he's a nice giant. A friendly giant! He has big floppy ears and they're as big as a plate. He flips them around and they work super good.
He catches dreams and gives them to little kids. The other mean giants go out in the night time and eat the little kids. There are nine eating giants.
They go to the Queen of England, the BFG and Sophie, and they tell her that nine giants have been eating up the little kids there. She sends her helpers, her soldiers, in nine helicopters and they go and capture the nine eating giants.
Then the BFG and Sophie lives at the palace happily ever after! Because Sophie's an orphan, so she needed a family.

Meet Kirsten

I love this book. This is number one of the Kirsten books. She talks swedish. Like "Tak" means 'thank you'. And I love this book because I the end. She came from Sweden to America on a ship. They had a terrible storm and then they made it to land. And then they went on a train and then they didn't have a cart wagon so they had to walk and walk and walk and walk and walk to her Uncle's barn house.
I like Kirsten because it's my Mommy's favorite girl too!

Mystery Ranch

I love this book, it's mystery ranch. The girls go to Aunt Jane's house and she is grouchy! And Aunt Jane is nice, she gets nicer every day. And she has been sick, well that's what they think, but she's really not. But she's in bed. And the Mystery Ranch belongs to the Alden kids because Aunt Jane gives it to them. Then they find a mine! And there's lots of cars and guards for the house. They found rocks that have uranium inside. They look like rocks but they have sand inside. One of the girls dropped one, and it broke and sand went all over. It is made by sand! Really thick wet dried sand.
Grandfather comes to the ranch at the end and everyone is happy!

The Yellow House Mystery

This is Yellow House Mystery. They find out that the yellow house on Surprise Island is Bill's house. But Bill is gone. He's been gone for a long long time. We don't know where he went! It's a mystery.
So the kids and Joe go to find him. They ride in Canoes and sometimes they have to carry them. And they   get to little town where Bill lives, but he's... is it called a Toad? Oh yeah, a Hermit! He's a hermit. They just think the man is a hermit but then they find out it's Bill! So they take him home.
I love this book. That's all I want to talk about today.

Surprise Island

The kids found their Grandpa and they first live in a box car, and then their Grandfather finds them and they move to his house. In the summer they go to live on Surprise Island. In the book, Joe was his name, but they didn't know his name in real life. Joe was a really handy man. They live in the big barn and they have a garden. They peeled the peas. Henry fixes up shelves for the barn while the girls cook. They went clamming too! And Watch their dog finds lots of crabs. 

They really like to swim, but Benny thinks it's too cold. Then he gets into the water without knowing it! 

They find lots of flowers so they make a museum. There's nests and paper birds.

They find a cave with lots of indian things in it and lots of things. And an arrowhead! And an axe head. 

Violet gets a violin because she wants one so bad. Then Benny catches a big fish! Grandfather loves their museum. 

They make a cake and there's a little toy Watch dog on top! Because it's Benny's birthday. They go finding the crab tubs, but one is empty. And.... that's all. The End.

The Boxcar Children

I liked this book so much! And I liked the cart and the train. And I liked Benny's cart that he makes with his wheels. I liked this book because it was so funny. They thought their Grandfather was mean, but he's nice! And Benny thought he was old, but he's young! They lived in the boxcar because they were running away from the baker and their grandfather, but the baker never found them. It ended happy with the Grandfather and they go to live with him and the train car comes too and they all live in the big giant happy house forever.

Felicity, An American Girl

Felicty is an American Girl book. She lived really and long long time ago. She's my favorite because she has curly hair like me. In the first book Jiggy Nye beats Penny up. Penny is a girl horsie. And she helps her excape and that's all that I liked.

She goes to lessons at Miss Manderly's house. She learned how to serve tea. And she learns good manners. And she meets a mean girl and a nice girl and they are sisters. The little girl, the nice girl, is the same age as Felicity. The big girl likes to not be nice and pick on her little sister.

She goes to a ball and she wears a blue gown. Her Mom gets a sickness and she couldn't talk - just like JoJo got! Elizabeth, it's the nice little girl, she finishes Felicity's dress. 

I sure love Felicity. I like it when she gets the lamb She got it from her Grandfather. And a guitar too. That's all I want to say.

Ben got a cut on his leg, and Felicity helped him. He was hiding in the forest because he was running away to a place where he could do the fight. They don't want the King ruling them! Felicity liked it at first until Ben tells her, and then she doesn't like it. Patriots are people that fight over the King being in charge. Felicity helps Ben decide to not run away until he is 18 so he doesn't get in trouble.

This one is all about Felicity too. I liked this book. I'm going to read it to my little kids when I am a Mom. I like my Mom, and I like this book. And I like everything in it!

The sad part is her Grandfather dies, and she's really sad and her Mother comes in and holds her while she's sad. Her horse Penny starts to have her foal, but it wasn't going very good and they needed Jiggy Nye's help, and he comes to help them because Felicity helped him in jail so now he's nice.

Dinotopia

This is the first time we've read this book. I love all the dinosaurs, and I love the highest one that carries that man to water the flowers up on top of the poles. I like when they go skybaxing.
It was a good book. I think JoJo would like it.
